I began writing spoken word poetry from age 8 and at age 14 I published my first book entitled ‘Joint & Separated - The Importance of Friendship in Teenage Life’, in May 2007. ‘Joint and Separated - The Importance of Friendship in Teenager Life’ is based on the two schools of friendship, Joint representing the good sides of friendship and Separated representing the opposite of the normal meaning of friendship. This book was originally published under TamaReHouse in 2007 and sold via Amazon, Waterstones, WHSmiths and etc. Currently this edition of this book is no longer available for print. There will be a revised version from the Author, MASOL in the future. Currently, MASOL continues to write Poetry, Prose, Critical Thinking Essays & various forms of literature.

On July 7th 2007, motivated by my genuine concern for the well-being of youths in my community, I created Poems Alive. Poems Alive was/is a Community Interest Group, formed as a platform to help youths to unveil their goals, achieve their dreams and better their local communities positively. We aim to provide youths with a positive outlook of life, ensuring that they embrace and discover dynamic methods to advancing their hidden skills, talents and abilities. Poems Alive targets youths, under 25.
In recognition of the work 'Poems Alive' did and does in Lewisham Borough, I was awarded a Lewisham Community Star Award for my contribution to helping my community in 2009. Through Poems Alive, we have organised numerous creative and innovative events / workshops across London and the UK between 2007 till 2016. Running open mic nights (Crescendos) between the former Soul Jazz Bar in Catford, Appetito Cafe & Albany Theatre in Deptford. My love for my community is ever continuing. Currently, I am focusing on giving recognition to the pioneers and vanguard children of Black British Cinema, whilst innovating academic and artistic works for the future of Black British Cinema.
